Knowledge-Centric Enterprise Architecture

At Doriq, we have developed an approach to Enterprise Architecture which treats the management of knowledge required to support the EA discipline as fundamental. We refer to this knowledge-centric approach as Enterprise DNA since, through implementation of a well-structured knowledge metadata model, and by understanding both the structure and the behaviour of this knowledge, EA practices can be so deeply embedded in the day-to-day operation of the business as to become invisible, whilst the rules that are required to keep knowledge under control are applied implicitly.

We based our approach on a detailed consideration of the knowledge that is required to perform effective Enterprise Architecture. However, EA practitioners must also recognise that possession of the knowledge, by itself, is not enough to sustain and nurture Enterprise Architecture.

In addition, a well-defined and well-understood structure must be applied to this knowledge, which must be cross-referred to and integrated with the methods that are used to construct, control and use the EA knowledge.
